Gerald Vento

Executive Chairman

During his career, Gerald “Jerry” Vento has managed the financing, franchising, construction, and marketing processes that have transformed communications companies into thriving enterprises. Mr. Vento founded Telecorp PCS, serving as Chairman and CEO, and grew the wireless start-up venture to become a giant company in the mobile telecom business. Mr. Vento’s leadership experience also includes Sprint Spectrum/American PCS, Abovenet Inc. (National Fiber Networks, Inc.), and a joint venture with the Washington Post Company to build and operate that company’s systems in the United Kingdom prior to its sale in 1993 to TCI/US West Communications. As Chairman of Velocity Express, Jerry has established a vision for the company’s future and leads the growth, expansion and customer initiatives for the company.

Ken Forster

President and COO

Ken Forster joined the Velocity Team as President and COO in 2012. Prior to joining Velocity Mr. Forster worked as an executive at BeavEx from 2001-2007, serving in the last few years as President and COO. Mr. Forster led the unprecedented expansion of BeavEx revenues, transforming the company from a regional carrier to one of the most successful and profitable same day delivery companies in the U.S. Mr. Forster directed the development and implementation of one of the industry’s most successful and recognized technology platforms, improving operating efficiencies and allowing BeavEx to grow at an unprecedented rate. Most importantly, Mr. Forster drove on-time deliveries and customer satisfaction to a new standard while building a cost effective relationship with independent contractor drivers as he nurtured a mutually beneficial positive culture within the company. Most recently, Ken led a successful turnaround of AirSage, which holds exclusive contracts with major US wireless carriers to process over 20 billion signals daily, an unprecedented data and business challenge.

Michael D. Zielinski

Chief Financial Officer

Michael “Mike” D. Zielinski is the Chief Financial Officer at Velocity. Prior to joining Velocity, Mr. Zielinski was Chief Financial Officer of Hi-Way Equipment Company, a multi-location construction equipment dealer. He has also served as a Controller with Cameron International Corporation, a multi-national oilfield service company, and spent 6 years with Goodman Manufacturing, a national HVAC manufacturer, in various financial management capacities including Director of Accounting over the company’s distribution operations which included over 150 branch locations. Mr. Zielinski began his career at Ernst & Young LLP and has 20 years of progressive finance and accounting experience. He has lead numerous re-engineering and re-structuring efforts yielding significant savings and improved operating efficiencies. During his career he has achieved success in leading high growth companies as well as less stable distressed endeavors.

Mr. Zielinski holds a Bachelors of Business Administration and Master in Professional Accounting degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a Certified Public Accountant.

Mike Heiberger

Division President

Mike Heiberger has more than 18 years of experience in transportation, risk management and logistics. He has been part of the Velocity team for six years, and for past three years, he has served as Division President. He is responsible for the West, Southwest and Florida markets.

He began his career as a line supervisor and has managed multiple facilities that processed more than 15 million packages annually. In his role as Division President at Velocity, he is responsible for sales, customer service and operations and logistics for a wide range of customers in a variety of industries. He is a graduate of DePaul University.

Scott McDade

Division President

Scott McDade joined Velocity Express in 2005, and brings more than 18 years of operations and sales experience to his position as Division President. He has managed regional operations for companies such as United Parcel Service and Airborne Express. He also successfully started a regional small package delivery company called Carolina Freight Systems that provided services throughout five states in the Southeast.

He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina.

Roger Gellis

Executive Vice President Sales & Marketing

Roger Gellis brings to Velocity Express more than 25 years of transportation and logistics experience in sales, operations, and product development. He previously held positions with Fedex, the USPS, Sigma-Aldrich Corporation, APX Logistics, and a company he launched from the ground up, Integrity Retail Distribution. At Velocity, Roger has been instrumental in expanding the company’s role in the retail logistics sector, including marquee customers. He has been on both sides of the logistics and supply chain process with previous experience as an engineer and a terminal manager. Roger holds a BS in industrial and systems engineering from the University of Florida.

Christopher Scott

Vice President IT Business Services

Chris Scott joined Velocity Express in 1996, and held a variety of positions within the company including sales and operations before joining the IT department. In 2009, he was promoted to vice president of IT Business Services, where he leads Velocity’s solutions architects who analyze customer technology and develop and implement solutions to positively impact the customer relationship. Chris also leads Velocity’s team of technical product managers who develop the company’s proprietary applications that enhance the company’s services. Chris holds a BA in economics from Connecticut College.

James Lindvall

General Counsel

Mr. Lindvall joined Velocity Express in 2001 as Vice President and Associate General Counsel, and in November 2011, was named General Counsel. Before joining Velocity, Lindvall served as Senior Counsel for the Automotive Rental Group of AutoNation and, prior to that, as Senior Attorney with National Car Rental Systems, Inc. Prior to that time, he was in private practice in Minneapolis, MN. He has a bachelor’s degree in history from Bethel University, St. Paul, MN, and received his jurist doctorate degree from William Mitchell College of Law.
